Site Technical Specifications
- METNET fully supports both H.320 (ISDN) and H.323 (Internet Protocol) standards for video conferencing
- Most METNET sites reside on state telecom or LAN/WAN network: conferences operate at 384 kbps as a default rate, although other rates from 56kbps up to 1.92 mbps are available if required.
- Several agency video sites, e.g., Corrections' and Court sites, are served on the Vision Net video network
- Over 60 - H.323 (IP based) state owned video sites, are supported on state agency LAN, Summit Net 2, or Vision Net
- Although there are some CLI and VTEL legacy systems still in operation, all new sites are Polycom equipment, FX, or 7000/8000 series
- METNET utilizes a Polycom/ACCORD MGC-100 Video bridge for all video conference bridging needs (Rel. 7.04 a/o 10/06)
- AT&T ISDN and commodity internet (Vision Net is the ISP) provide off-net access
- Protected virtual private network clouds provided by Vision Net, Transaria, and AVI/Transportation Learning Network
- METNET can connect to more than 240 other video locations in Montana
- Partnerships with telemedicine's, e.g., EMTN, REACH, St. Vincent's-Montana Partners in Telehealth Network, tribal colleges, Vision Net, allow for quality lost cost interconnection to non State sites in Montana and beyond
- Up to 10 or more conferences a day
- Up to 250 video conference hours per month
- Approx. 25% of current use is education
- In addition to minimum requirements, METNET also supports, G.722, G.728 audio, H.263 and H.264 video, Annex D, H.239, FECC, and more
